We are absolutely delighted to announce that we have been named Innovation Entrepreneurs of the Year in a prestigious national award scheme last night.
The title was given to us at the annual NatWest Great British Entrepreneur Awards after British Baby Box was shortlisted from thousands of entries.
Our entry was commended by a panel of judges which included serial entrepreneur James Caan CBE and David Buttress, founder of Just Eat.
And founder of the award scheme Francesca James said we had impressed the evaluators for sticking to a 100% British ethos, despite the fact that it would be cheaper to manufacture abroad.
She said: “These awards celebrate the story behind these people – true entrepreneurs are as much about their story as they are about their balance sheet.”
She added: “This has been a really tough year for our judges, as not only have we seen more entries than ever before, but the standard of entries has also been the best ever. We’ve had an incredibly tough job narrowing down the winners from such a strong shortlist.
“The winning entrepreneurs have made a huge impact on entrepreneurship in their region and the wider UK economy and we hope that winning an award will help give them the recognition they thoroughly deserve.
“We’d like to thank all of the entrepreneurs who entered this year, and send huge congratulations to those who have taken home awards.”
Gordon Merrylees, Head of Entrepreneurship for NatWest, said: “It has been so inspiring to see the number and calibre of entries this year, which proves that the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well.
“I want to extend my huge congratulations to all the winners of this year’s categories and hope that their businesses continue to grow in the future.”
Needless to say, to be chosen as the winners in this particular category in one of the biggest award schemes for entrepreneurs in the country is utterly overwhelming.
But innovation is what we have always placed at the forefront of our business development and we pride ourselves on being mothers who understand the market and who put baby safety above all else.
With this in mind, we have been meeting with MPs this week to discuss our plans to champion a British Safety Standard for baby boxes.
