As we closed the door on 2025, we found ourselves looking back with immense pride. 2025 wasn’t just another year; it has been a celebration of ten years of British Baby Box. From a dining room table lightbulb moment to the corridors of Westminster, our mission remains the same: ensuring every baby gets the best start in life, regardless of their background.
Here is a look back at the milestones that defined our most successful year yet.
Winter & Spring: Awards and Advocacy
We kicked off January with a focus on our roots, working closely with various Local Authorities. These engagements remind us why we do what we do—seeing the direct impact of a safe sleep space on new parents’ peace of mind.
The momentum continued when we were honored at the Everywoman Awards with the Innovation Award. Being recognized among such inspiring female entrepreneurs was the perfect prelude to International Women’s Day in March, where we celebrated the power of women-led businesses in the UK. We even featured on SKY Business Years!!! What an achievement!!!
In April, the accolades kept coming as we were named Wholesaler of the Year at the Corporate LiveWire Innovation Awards. This was a testament to our commitment to quality and our ability to scale without losing the personal touch that defines our brand.
Summer: Ten Years of British Baby Box
June was a month for the history books. We were incredibly proud to receive the Allica Bank Great British Retail Entrepreneur Award. But the real celebration was marking 10 years of owning British Baby Box.
“Ten years ago, we started with a simple belief that safety shouldn’t be a luxury. Today, we are a multi-award-winning company influencing national policy.” — Susan Purse & Sarah Simons
In July, we took our passion to the heart of democracy. We hosted a Baby Box drop-in event at the House of Commons, sponsored by Liz Twist MP and in partnership with The Children’s Foundation. It was a powerful opportunity to show MPs first-hand how our Baby Boxes serve as a preventative public health tool.
Autumn & Winter: Policy and Progress
By November, our advocacy began to manifest in major regional shifts. Nottingham City Council officially began distributing British Baby Boxes through their Family Hubs, ensuring that local families have immediate access to safe sleep resources.
Our political reach continued to grow as we met with an incredible list of supportive MPs and leaders, including:
Michelle Welsh MP (Chair of the APPG on Maternity), John Milne MP, Amanda Martin MP, and Kate Osborne MP, Kim McGuinness (Mayor of the North East), Sir Bernard Jenkins… to name just a few.
We also officially joined the APPG in Maternity at the House of Commons, chaired by Michelle Welsh, ensuring that the “Baby Box” remains a central part of the conversation on maternal and baby health.
Finally, we spent December looking forward. We are currently developing our newly designed Nursery Rhyme Baby Box for a major 2026 pilot scheme. Watch this space….
Our Heart: Supporting the Community
Beyond the awards and the high-profile meetings, our core remains the same: supporting those on the frontline. Throughout 2025, we:
Supported hundreds of Baby Banks by providing high-quality mattresses at cost prices.
Continued our vital partnership with The Children’s Foundation to tackle child poverty in the North East and across England.
Maintained our absolute commitment to British trade, ensuring our products are manufactured right here in England.
Looking Ahead to 2026
If 2025 was about celebrating a decade of work, 2026 is about the next giant leap. With our new designs and expanding local authority partnerships, we are closer than ever to a future where every baby in England has a safe place to sleep.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey this year. Here’s to the next ten!
